Collecting of these includes collecting and studying the reprints forgeries and actual fantasy stamps that were created in the 1800s.

This field of stamp collecting and identification is still affordable since it is complicated for the typical stamp investor .

Since these companies were not a part of the United States government it was not illegal to create copies to fill the blanks in Collector stamp albums…forgers such as Spiro, Taylor, Scott, Moen, etc. created collectible issues some good and some bad and became famous in the process.

There are genuine and/or forgeries and/or reprints and/or printer remainders included in lot and I recommend Lyon's three volumes on the identification of local and carrier stamps or the Internet for a Identification source.
